From US-Africa engagement to Africa-US engagement.
In the run-up to the 2nd US-Africa Leaders Summit, Development Reimagined has put together a comprehensive Policy Brief to shift the US-Africa process to an Africa-US process.
This policy brief is intended to support African leaders, governments, policymakers, and thoughtleaders, as well as development practitioners, in delivering clear positions on US-Africa engagement meeting to meet Africa’s long-term development needs, with a view to shifting the relationship to be focused on “Africa-US” engagement.
In this respect, it proposes process-based and substantive steps required to increase African agency and coordination in the plurilateral relationship, and overall focus on ensuring the US both does not harm and actively contributes to the continent’s progress towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the African Union’s Agenda 2063.
