OUR Insights

CLIENT Case study

Development Reimagined was commissioned by a European Union government agency to conduct an independent, in-depth report focused on lessons from the EU experience with Memoranda of Understanding (MoU) to address the online sale of counterfeit goods in China.

Working within a tight timeframe, Development Reimagined experts developed a detailed research methodology involving a review of legal cases, quantitative analysis of data from businesses and online platforms, and 30 surveys and in-depth interviews conducted with key market participants across China and the EU.

The report identified high-potential areas to be addressed in an MoU between e-commerce platforms and rights-holders in China, including identifying specific decision-makers to facilitate the MoU.

The Development Reimagined team presented the report to audiences including China’s Ministry of Commerce (MOFCOM) in December 2019 and January 2020, receiving “very positive feedback” in the words of our client.
